  1. PIC is different to Birdshot Chorioretinopathy and because of this, it can be treated differently. Have you visited the PIC Society website . Dave who runs this support group might know of people with PIC in South Africa. There is also a PIC facebook group. PIC tends to affect younger near sighted (mainly) women I believe and the white spots are more clearly punched out than in Birdshot. There are similarities – they don’t know why people get it, some people are affected worse than others and it is chronic. There is a need for better treatment. There is also a twitter feed PIC support UK

    • If you are in South Africa and would like to get in touch with Wendy, please get in touch with BUS and we will pass your contact details on to Wendy, so that you are in touch with someone with Birdshot in the same country!

      • I live in Cape Town and have Birdshot and would be very keen to speak with Wendy or any other South African member.

        • Hello Margaret, please join the Facebook Birdshot International group. We have a number of people from South Africa on there and it ill be easiest for you to meet and chat on there first of all, but I do know that they occasionally meet for coffee as well. I will pass your contact details to Wendy as well. Annie

  2. Good day,

I have joined the birdshot uveitas society on facebook. Is it possible to please put me in contact with the people with birdshot in Cape Town, South Africa? I would really appreciate it.

I live in Cape Town and a close relative was recently diagnosed. We are looking for any doctors who have any experience in treating birdshot. I am trying to find him better medical care so it would be super helpful to get into contact with anyone in the area.

    Thanks so much.
