Volunteer help please!

We are wanting to compile a comprehensive list of Hospitals with ERG facilities which do ERG tests for people with Birdshot Chorioretinopathy and we wondered if any of our members would like to take this task on.

We have a list of hospitals where we know they are done, but we believe that it is by no means comprehensive.    It will probably require quite a few phone calls or emails, but there doesn’t appear to be any comprehensive source for this type of information and it would be really useful for us to have it.

Please get in touch with Annie or Rea if you would like to help with this.

Many thanks.

At the moment we have full details for the following:

  • Aberdeen Royal Infirmary,
  • Stoke Mandeville Hospital,
  • Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital
  • Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle
  • Oxford Eye Hospital, Oxford
  • Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield
  • Southampton Hospital
  • Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow
  • Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Uni Hosp, Liverpool
  • Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham

Offers of help are much appreciated!

  1. Moorfields do ERGs for patients with Birdshot. I’m having an ERG on the 21st of February. Is there any particular type of information you would like to collect?

  2. Thanks Adrian for the offer. I will email you. Please if others want to tell us where they get their ERGs done, maybe we can also gather the information this way. We want to know who is charge of the department and contact details, but any info would be useful.

  3. i have my ERG done at Moorfields,on the 16th March The person on the letter says Andrew carter.this would be my second one within 6 months

  4. Dear All,
Thanks for the offers of help. The reason we want to this information is because the consultants feel that in order for people to participate in these research studies that we want to get going, the person with Birdshot must have access to ERG facilities for monitoirng. We have a long list of hospitals, where they might or might not have the right sort of ERG facilities. I think the business of trying to find out might be very time consuming not that easy or rewarding.

Thinking about it, I think the easiest way to handle this is to include it in a questionnaire, that we sent to all uveitis consultants, when we invite them to tell their patients about the studies that we are undertaking, and we can find out that way.

However, if people want to tell us where they have their ERGs done if they are not on this list, that would be an extremely helpful starting point!

I will start a post in the discussion forum, where people can add where they have their ERGs done. so that it is easy. Annie
